The Design

The obverse depicts a frontal image of St. Peter’s Basilica. The facade’s Renaissance architecture has detailed engravings, and the cross on top of the central dome extends into the coin's edge.

The seal of the Vatican State is on the left, beside the dome. And the inscriptions read: “SAN PIETRO IN VATICANO.”

The image on the reverse design corresponds to a baldachin, the central canopy over the Papal Altar, created by artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Inside the building, the baldachin is beneath the central dome and above the tomb of St. Peter.

The national seal of the Republic of Palau is in a central position, with the coin’s face dollar beneath it. The collection’s name and year of issuance are at the bottom. They read: “Tiffany Art 2022 Metropolis.”
