The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, or NGC, was founded with the goal of providing a credible source of information on the quality of a coin before customers had to pay. As a result, their grades guarantee that consumers will receive a coin in the exact condition that they require. The renowned Sheldon Scale is used by NGC to evaluate coins, with a grade of 70 representing a perfect coin specimen.
This coin is also a part of the Early Release mintage, meaning that it was minted in the first 30 days of production. Another noteworthy feature is that this coin was is a San Francisco Mint Type 2 American Eagle. The type 2 silver eagle was released in mid-2021 as the first rendition of the coin since its inception in 1986. The San Francisco Mint is notable because it only produces a small quantity of Silver Eagles each year. All of these unique specifications are found on the coin's label.
Each one-ounce silver eagle is struck with .999 fine silver and is shipped in a protective acrylic slab, as seen in the image above.
The obverse of the 2021 American Silver Eagle (Type 2) resembles the original American Eagle design. On this face, an enlarged image of Lady Liberty is seen walking into the setting sun. Adolph A. Weinman produced this famous design, which was first featured on the first half dollar in 1916. This face features the issue year as well as the words "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse facing showcases the much-anticipated new design. This face depicts designer Emily Damtra's image of a bald eagle - America's national bird - in flight, enclosing an oak branch between its talons. The inscriptions "United States of America," "One Dollar," and "1 oz. Fine Silver" surround the magnificent bird. Around the bird, the famous phrases "E Pluribus Unum" are also displayed.
