The 2 oz Airplane Propeller coin is minted in a proof quality, which means the coin is struck with more force, making the field of the coin mirror-like while the raised parts of the coin keep their frosted finish. The coin is produced by Coin Invest Trust, which is a private mint but is backed by the Cook Islands, which is what makes it a silver coin. The coin also comes in a custom box that features a pilot and compasses on the box.
The obverse is a beautifully designed airplane propeller. The engine of the plane is minted behind the propellers along with the cockpit. In the background of the design is a compass design along with the words “BLUE SKIES & TAILWINDS” in the top right of the coin. This design is one of the most unique of any coin in the world.
The reverse features the same design as all coins from mints that come from a country that is a territory of the UK, as the Cook Islands are. The design features the Ian Rank-Broadley side profile of Her Majesty is featured on the coin’s reverse. Surrounding the image is the inscription “Elizabeth II” along with “10 DOLLARS”, “COOK ISLANDS”, & “2020”.
