Buy Australian Antiqued Gear-Shaped Silver Coins Online
Each coin is individually “antiqued” by the Perth Mint, ensuring that no two coins in this set will look the same. The coin is antiqued to give it the look of a gear that has been used in manufacturing. The silver coins are struck by the Perth Mint with 1 oz .9999 pure silver each. The coins' face value is supplied by the Tuvalu government, which assigns them a 1 Dollar FV.
The gear came to fame during the Industrial Revolution of the 1800s. The gear, otherwise known as the cogwheel, was fundamental to the development of machinery. It is considered one of the oldest pieces of equipment known to man, with ties all the way back to the 4th century BCE.
The two-coin set is presented in an acrylic case with a mechanism to rotate the coins, which itself sits within a themed display box with “INDUSTRY IN MOTION” printed on the outside. Each set also comes with its own unique, numbered certificate of authenticity which will be between 1-1,500 as the Perth Mint has given these sets a mintage cap of 1,500 sets.
The obverse features the most recent portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark and unveiled in 2015. Encircling Her Majesty’s portrait is the monetary denomination of the coin, the text “ELIZABETH II”, “1oz 9999 SILVER”, “2020”, and “TUVALU”.
The reverse of each coin features a gear-like design with several toothed cogs ascending in size from the center of the coin.
