Commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Leeuwen Daalder, the Royal Dutch Mint has released a coin bearing the Lion that featured on the Dutch coat of arms. This design appeared on Silver Daalder coins over 50 years after the founding of the Dutch Mint. These particular proof coins bear the unique distinction of being awarded perfect PF-70 grades by NGC – ensuring that every coin is not only authentic but also flawless.

Each of these coins is struck using 1 troy ounce of 0.9999 pure silver.

The Royal Dutch Mint, or the Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt, was established in 1567. However, it was not until 1807 that the government declared it the only Dutch entity with the power to strike and issue coins for Netherlands.

A knight stands proudly on the obverse side, directly behind a shield that displays the familiar Heraldic Lion design. This image has a crude but regal elegance that transports us back in history to a time when such coins were commonplace. Furthermore, dual beadwork rims encircle the aforementioned design and display stylish inscriptions.

The Heraldic Lion is magnified on the reverse, allowing the viewer to appreciate the design in awe. Dual beadwork rims are visible on this side as well, adding symmetry to the coin, while making space for inscriptions in a font reminiscent of the 1600s.
